David R. Johnson. Licensed Acupuncturist. Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine
About the Acupuncturist
Hello! My name is David Johnson and I am a licensed acupuncturist in New Jersey. Acupuncture and Oriental Herbal Medicine have been nearly lifelong passions of mine. As of 2014, I am also a New Jersey State Certified Chinese herbalist.
I began learning about acupuncture in 1971 from two college friends from Hong Kong and have enjoyed its benefits ever since then. As of December 2020, I am graduate of the doctoral program with the title of Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine - DACM) of Pacific College of Health and Science. The program emphasis was in integrated medicine and evidence based medicine. Previously, I received my Master of Science degree in Acupuncture in 2006 and the Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine in 2008 from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City. Tri-State has been on the forefront of developing effective acupuncture programs specific to pain management and sports medicine, Kiiko Matsumoto internal medicine treatment AND traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) long before any other school in the country. Their training has often been imitated but not ever duplicated. I feel that these modalities can surely enhance health and healing of very tough and challenging problems of all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is a whole-person oriented modality that heals the person on all levels.
TYPES OF ACUPUNCTURE THAT I EMPLOY:
I practice in three main areas of acupuncture:
First - Live PAIN FREE with Dr. Tung style acupuncture and also Dr. Mark Seem acupuncture for the treatment of both acute and chronic pain issues. This does include injuries from sports and other physical activity. Just because you may have a medical diagnosis of ruptured or bulging discs or arthritis does not mean you have to live with the pain associated from these and other difficult physical conditions or have to take pain killers.
Second - Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture for "Internal medicine" conditions that are difficult or not very respondent to traditional medical care. These are related to gastrointestinal issues such as acid reflux, diverticulitis, leaky gut syndrome; autoimmune diseases including but not limited to Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, complications due to diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis and many other autoimmune disorders, Also Lyme's disease complications, gynecological problems, fertility issues, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, asthma and breathing related issues. Kiiko Matsumoto, a prominent acupuncturist, has been a large influence for me and her work is very effective, especially when dealing with puzzling issues that defy conventional medical treatment. Kiiko Matsumoto style is one of the three main areas of acupuncture that I have studied and been trained under her supervision.
Third - Traditional Chinese Medicine also known as "TCM" is a basic and classical knowledge base that acupuncturists throughout America and the world have been trained in. This base of knowledge and methodology is considered to have started its development somewhere between three and five thousand years ago. Writings form about 2500+ years ago already show a sophisticated system that suggests that it was in development for several thousand years before the earliest written records were discovered. I have been trained in the above three areas as well as a few other schools of acupuncture such as Five Element acupuncture, Vietnamese acupuncture, Dr. Tan Method, Master Tung Style and others as well. Acupuncture is a vast system and there is always more to learn and discover.
